The Niagara Escarpment and the Dundas Valley - the best biking/hiking/running in Ontario minutes outside of downtown

The people. We have an amazing group of residents that are so close and top notch admin and program directors that will take care of you no matter what.

Brunch at Detour in Dundas ... bike bike bike (in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area) ... Fairweather Brewery for some fine sour beers on the patio ... bike bike bike ... wood-fired pizza at Breadbar

It's a diverse vibrant city with all the amenities that come with living in a metropolis while having ample access to nature and green spaces!

Incredibly supportive staff and residents in a program that will go out of their way to build your ideas and back your plans for future while training at large academic hospitals with rich pathology and the opportunities to do many procedures (as early as first week as residency).

Hamilton has the luxury of being home to both a vibrant downtown entertainment scene as well as natural elements like hiking trails waterfalls and the lakeshore! There's something for everyone.

The people. Beyond having an amazing academic curriculum I love working alongside a group of talented and kind faculty/residents who are genuinely excited to teach!

One of the nearby waterfalls in the morning Salty Espresso for brunch. Then pick up a donut on Locke St. and drive out to Dundas Peak in the afternoon. Grab dinner at a restaurant on James St / King William and if it's the second Friday of the month in the summer check out the Art Crawl on James.

Vanilla (seriously; especially from Santini in Portugal)

I love the balance of city and nature. It is a short walk or drive to nearby hiking or cycling trails which is the perfect end (or start) to many days! The city also has so much to offer without feeling too large.

What is your favourite thing about Mac EM?:
My co-residents and admin team! I think of them as family and can lean on them whenever needed. The medicine in Hamilton is also varied and interesting and we have some excellent clinical teachers.

If you only have 24 hours in Hamilton what is something you must see or check out?:
Check out one of the local hiking trails grab a bite at one of the downtown restaurants and finish your day with a craft beer at Fairweather Brewery.

Double Chocolate Fudge or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

What is your dream vacation?:
An open-ended ticket without a timeline visiting countless places including Egypt Sri Lanka the Maldives and Fiji. Travel is what I happily spend my money on!

I chose Mac EM because...: I wanted to train in an academic center that provides residents with a mix of large community hospitals and tertiary referral centers. Our program promotes early clinical responsibility and is highly supportive of pursuing additional interests outside of EM.
